Phemelo Mitchell is the Chief Operations Officer at SunElex Group (Pty) LTD. Phemelo has extensive experience in the energy sector as an Engineering Professional in the fields of Project Management, Engineering Procurement and Construction, with additional experience in the manufacturing sector.

Her career started at Eskom Capital Expansion Division at Komati Power Station working on turbine centreline. She has over 15 years’ experience in Power Generation (Coal & Nuclear), Renewable Energy (Wind and Solar). Her knowledge base for renewable energy started at EDF Renewables South Africa working as a project manager. She worked in corporate strategy and consulting in the energy space. Previously Phemelo worked as an EPC Manager at ib vogt South Africa her responsibilities encompassed leading the technical submission for bid window 5 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) Programme including Enterprise and Supplier Development, Economic Development, strategy development and execution for compliance to economic development and localization under the REIPPPP which promotes the establishment of new renewable energy firms, promotes localisation and growth of domestic renewable industry and support existing firms .

Phemelo has over 8 years of experience in Renewable Energy with knowledge of Independent Power Producer Procurement (REIPPP) Programme contractual framework for large-scale conventional power generation from the project development phase through to the decommissioning phase.
Phemelo holds a qualification in Mechanical Engineering and Project Management as well as a Master’s in Business Management and Administration from University of Stellenbosch (USB) and also holds an Executive Masters in Business Management and Administration from University of Bologna (Italy).
